SUMMARY:Land Day March
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Moore Square to commemorate land day. Every year on March 30th\, Palestinians around the world observe Land day or يوم الأرض\, recalling the events of March 30th\, 1976 when six Palestinians were murdered by Israeli Occupation Forces during protests against Israel’s land theft of Palestinian land. This day is marked as an act of resistance to the continued Zionist occupation and to reaffirm our connection to our land.\n\nAt a time when Palestinians continue to suffer a horrific genocide in Gaza alongside ongoing land grabs\, illegal detention\, and killings by the Israeli Occupation Forces in the West Bank and occupied Palestinian territories\, it is critical that we continue to isolate Zionism and reaffirm our commitment to the struggle for total liberation.\n\nThis event is on Monday\, March 30th at 5:30PM.

SUMMARY:Electricity Rate Hike Hearing: Person County
DESCRIPTION:New power plant construction to power data centers could raise your electricity rates. The NC Utilities Commission regulates electric utilities\, they are holding a hearing on whether Duke Energy can increase rates (by 18% on average). Piedmont Electric Corporation also serves Person County\, but they buy their energy from Duke Energy and even collaborate on some powerplants\, which means what Duke Energy does affects your rates. \nTell them that your electric bills are already too high\, and that you shouldn’t have to pay more for fuel or new gas power plants that are needed to power new data centers and big industrial customers\, like Microsoft. \nThis event will be on Monday\, April 13 at 7:00 pm.
