SUMMARY:Everyday Justice Screening with Rev. Bill Kearney
DESCRIPTION:Join the Southern Coalition for a pre-release screening of the North Carolina segment of Everyday Justice featuring the Rev. Bill Kearney. A Warren County native\, Bill wears many hats and holds a special place in communities across the state. Recently retired from UNC’s Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention\, he continues to lead the Warren County Environmental Action Team. \nWhile filming\, we joined Bill for a “Boogie with Bill” class at the Henderson YMCA\, where he talked about his passion for channeling movement into creativity and community connection. This event is a chance to learn from him\, celebrate his work\, and get to know the man behind it. Filmmaker Tim Mensa will join us for a discussion about the broader narrative project. \nEveryday Justice is a short documentary series from SCSJ that tells a different kind of story. Each film follows one person\, in one place\, in one ordinary moment — and finds in that moment something worth protecting. It’s about what the fight for justice actually looks like\, not in courtrooms or headlines\, but in the people who keep going and keep showing up for each other\, every single day. \nLight refreshments will be provided. Explore Everyday Justice here. \nThis is an in-person event and will be held at 5517 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd Durham. Register here.
