Off the Page with Bria Miller

October 1 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

The Land, Food, and Freedom Journal presents: Off the Page with Bria Miller.

For this edition of Off the Page, NBFJA and The Land, Food, and Freedom Journal welcome Bria Miller, author of The Abolitionist Atlas and New Afrikan Counter-Geographies, for a conversation about land, abolition, counter-mapping, and Black self-determination. Drawing from the New Afrikan Independence Movement and her travels across the South, Bria’s work asks us to think beyond land access alone. What are we building on the land, and toward what end? Together, we’ll explore the making of her project the Abolitionist Atlas, the people and places that shaped Bria’s thinking, and the possibilities and tensions of mapping movement infrastructure in an era of surveillance. Participants will also be invited to consider where pieces of a New Society are already taking shape and how they might be connected into a meaningful geography of Black liberation.

Thursday, October 1 • 6:00 PM.
