Emma is a public historian with a firm methodological commitment to historical research and preservation driven by the needs and interests of grassroots communities. She is currently a History PhD student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Prior to this, she received a MA in Public History at North Carolina State University (2025) and BAs in History and Spanish from the University of Florida (2022). She has honed her skills in oral history and public humanities methodologies through a wide range of settings, including the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art, an ethnographic field school in coastal Ecuador, and the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program under the direction of legendary activist-scholar Dr. Paul Ortiz. The National Council on Public History recognized Emma’s outstanding work on the NCEJN Archive by selecting her as the recipient of the Student Project Award in June 2026.
