Who Am I?

My name’s Dominique, and I’m a graduating Master of Public Policy student. After teaching high school social studies in Durham for 7 years, I’ve explored how to take what we collectively know about how people learn to increase agency and changemaking in community organizing. I have organized with the Durham Association of Educators public school union, Jewish Voices for Peace, and Durham For All.

My own cancer diagnosis in 2020 sparked my passion for building capacity in communities to demand and design the society we deserve.

Why partner with me?

If you’re looking to grow your member base, volunteer roster, grassroots donor list, or build capacity within existing chapters let’s talk. The community assembly model I’ve piloted increases participants’ beliefs that “people like me, working together, can solve this issue” and I would love to continue piloting it with more partners!

What I am Excited to Offer:

  • A high-quality community assembly that uses popular education methods to build communal knowledge. Reach out and I’m more than happy to walk through what this looks like in practice and via participant testimonials!
  • Issue framing and political education that is rooted in intersectional, anti-oppression, and systems-based approaches.
  • Support with identifying new outreach paths and organizations to partner with, and support in the work of making those connections through the community assembly opportunity.
  • Facilitation and implementation of the community assembly OR training and coaching to run the model yourself OR both.

Already made: PFAS curriculum Adapting the Framework

  • A 2.5-hour workshop that includes lunch, hope-centric communal learning, and participatory action and solution identifying.
  • If you want to work with me to run this, reach out and I can come to you to discuss outreach, hosting it, etc.

Adapting the Framework

  • The community assembly model can be adapted to any issue- data centers, CAFOs, etc. and will follow a similar time frame (2.5 hours with lunch).
  • If you want to work with me to design a community assembly on your community’s issue, please reach out!
