Founded in 1998, the North Carolina Environmental Justice Network (NCEJN) is a grassroots, people of color-led coalition that builds power with systemically marginalized communities to resist climate, environmental, racial, and social injustice.
Our Work
Organizing & Advocacy
NCEJN supports communities impacted by environmental injustices by organizing strategic workshops and conferences, offering training in community organizing, addressing communication needs through storytelling and visualization, uplifting intersectionalities, and facilitating networking across the state and beyond. When necessary, we assist with litigation through an external legal team.
Infrastructure & Development
NCEJN strengthens organizational capacities by providing resources to community-based organizations, including financial opportunities through our Mini-Fund and workshops to enhance Network members ability to further develop their infrastructure and increase sustainability. As a Justice40 Hub, NCEJN offers grant-writing workshops.
Research & Education
NCEJN works with communities to determine how data can advance community advocacy goals, facilitates relationships with researchers, and leads community science efforts to address these data needs. We also provide environmental justice education and training for both communities and academics.
