“We reject the centering of the university in local organizing, but the continued harm and outright aggression against the community by UNC cannot be ignored. Bringing in hundreds of police officers into the community on April 30th, the coal plant which pollutes the air of surrounding black neighborhoods and the university’s plan to switch to PFAS pellets which would fill the air with forever chemicals, gentrification, and eager collaboration with ICE – the university continues to endanger our communities with no sign of stopping. The situation demands response. Show up smart.”
“We are tired of the university harming our communities.
The announcement that UNC will cooperate with ICE and hand over its own students represents a willful and callous continued commitment to racist police violence by the university. We invite the community and students to gather in assembly to discuss these developments.
We protect us.
